A fun lil fantasy RPG that my daughter loved.
Lantern of Worlds - The First Quest
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Do you long for the old days of gaming? For the ancient adventurers like King's Quest and Lands of Lore? Do you enjoy text based fantasy? Then allow me to introduce Lantern of Worlds - The First Quest!
Lantern of Worlds - The First Quest is an RPG inspired by West-European fairytales and mythology, and based on older games like Quest for Glory and Eye of the Beholder.
The game tells the story of how a great tournament is announced, in the royal city of Idunia. The winner of the tournament will be named the new Royal Adventurer, hero and protector of the people.
Many villages and towns have send their best and bravest to compete, as it is a great honor for any village to have one of its own as the new Royal Adventurer. And you are one of them, strongest and most powerful of all the young men and women of your village.
But before you are allowed to compete, you must prove yourself worthy, and to do so, you and several others have been given the quest to investigate the forest of Myrr, a dangerous and mysterious place. Several woodsmen have gone missing in the forest recently, and surrounding villages report strange lights and sounds coming from its depths.
Find the cause of the disturbances in the forest of Myrr, and your place at the royal tournament will be assured!

Lantern of Worlds - The First Quest is the second game in a series of games, each based on a different world mythology.
One of the aims of the game is to introduce especially younger players to the stories and tales of the great mythologies of the world.
As the Lantern of Worlds game series is based largely on text and reading, it is my hope the game series will also aid in the reading and text comprehension of younger players.
In an age where reading is on the decline, I would like Lantern of Worlds to be a bridge between the reading of books and the playing of computer games, and combine the best of both worlds.
Like Albert Einstein said: 'If you want to be your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.'
And that is what our games essentially are, interactive fairy tales!
This is the second game of the series. The First game of the series can be found here:
